If you like granola, this one is for you! This very simple homemade granola recipe is packed with nutritious ingredients that will nourish your body and soul.
This one is made with almonds and sunflowers to add a bit of crunchiness, besides a bit of toasted, incredible flavor. The cacao will complement the dark chocolate pieces, increasing the chocolaty flavor – the chocolate pieces will give a nice crunchiness as well. The coconut oil will make the mixture become crispy, besides leaving an incredible aroma in your house while it bakes (if you like coconut, of course).
The fact that this granola is made with whole grains and natural sweeteners makes it a very much healthier option.
You will notice that once you start preparing your own granola, you won’t want to go back to the ones you buy in-store – the quality and flavor of the homemade ones are so much superior! Also, have I mentioned that is super simple?
Oh, and besides being very nutritious, this recipe is also delicious – I hope you like it as much as I do!
Homemade Double Chocolate Almond Granola Recipe Ingredients
A little bit about the ingredients I used for this recipe. The exact measurements are described in the recipe form below.
Rolled oats: This is the main ingredient of the granola recipe. It is a good source of high quality protein, minerals, and vitamins. It is also a good source of carbs and fiber.
Almonds: They will give a bit of crunchiness to the recipe and, of course, almond taste. Almonds contain vitamin E and are high in antioxidants. If you don’t like almonds you can always change for a different nut of your preference.
Sunflower seeds: Another ingredient to give crunchiness to the recipe and is also full of vitamins and minerals.
Cacao: I used cacao powder to cover the other ingredients to increase the chocolate flavor. Cacao is rich in antioxidants.
Agave syrup: I chose a natural sweetener. If you don’t like Agave syrup, you can change it to maple syrup.
Coconut oil: It will help with sticking the cacao powder to the ingredients and also make them more in chunks and crunchy.
Dark chocolate: I used 74% dark chocolate. It also contains antioxidants and it is not heavy on sugar. It gives a nice chocolate taste and is like “little surprises” in the middle of your granola.
How to make Homemade Double Chocolate Almond Granola:
This is a very simple and easy recipe, you basically have to mix everything and bake it. Here is how you make it:
First, preheat the oven to 120°C/250°F and add all the dry ingredients, except the chocolate in a bowl. Mix the ingredients and distribute them over a lined baking tray covered with a baking sheet.
Then, mix well the Agave syrup with the coconut oil. The coconut oil should be liquid for this step, if it is solid, put it in the microwave for a few seconds to make it liquid before mixing it with Agave syrup.
Pour the liquid mix into the dry mixture and massage all the ingredients, until well coated.
Put the tray in the middle of the oven and bake it for 50-60 minutes, stirring throughout it every 15 minutes. You want to keep an eye on it just to make sure it won’t burn since every oven is different.
Let it cool down on the tray and once it is cooled down, add the chocolate pieces, mix it all, and transfer the granola to an airtight container or large glass storage jar.
